Our take

What a buyer should know

The numbers do not yet reconcile

The Pixii SP800's published specification deserves scrutiny before enthusiasm. A 150 kWh pack in a 7.5 m aluminium sportsboat would indeed be class-leading, but a 40-knot top speed alongside a listed 50 kW motor does not add up — the source describes either one or two motors driving a jet, so the 50 kW figure most likely records a single continuous rating rather than peak system output. Ask the yard for a full powertrain sheet: motor count, peak and continuous kW, usable versus nominal battery capacity, and the speed at which the 100 nm range was measured.

The price invites the same question. €133,000, converted from £114,000, is remarkably low for a boat carrying 150 kWh; cell cost alone would consume a large share of it. One of those two figures is likely to move.

Where it makes sense

If the specification holds, the concept is well judged for its market. An aluminium hull is the right choice for the abrasion and beach-launch reality of UK sailing, and the optional remote-anchoring system — driving the boat off a beach unmanned — solves a real problem for owners without a marina berth.

The caveat is status: the boat was under development on the Isle of Wight as of the 2023 source. Confirm whether it is in series production before committing a deposit.

Written from the builder’s published specifications and the wider market, not from testing the boat ourselves. Always confirm figures with the manufacturer before committing.
